The Binder privacy policy
Last updated: 10 October 2026
The Binder is a Chrome extension that turns browser tasks into step-by-step guides. It works on your computer. It does not send guides, screenshots, browsing events or usage analytics to a server, and it does not load remote scripts or fonts.
What stays on your computer
Guides, screenshots, step clips and settings are stored in the extension’s own database (IndexedDB) and Chrome extension storage in your browser profile. Delete a guide in the library to remove it. Uninstalling the extension or clearing its data removes everything stored locally. Exported files and copies you have shared are yours to manage.
Recording starts only when you choose Start capture. It follows one tab you select and ends when you finish or close that tab. Instructions use the labels of the things you click; typed values are not read. Screenshots show whatever is visible on the page, so review guides and use Blur or Redact before sharing. Step clips are recorded only from a window, tab or screen you pick in Chrome’s picker.
Website access is an optional Chrome permission. The Binder asks for it on its welcome page or when you start a capture, and you can remove it at any time in Chrome’s extension settings.
When data leaves your computer Pro payments. Payments are handled by ExtensionPay (extensionpay.com) and Stripe. The extension asks extensionpay.com whether this browser has paid, using an anonymous id that ExtensionPay creates. Your email and card details are entered on ExtensionPay and Stripe pages, never in the extension. ExtensionPay and Stripe keep the payment records of people who buy Pro. No guide content is sent. Free narration voice (optional, off by default). The first time you use the Kokoro voice, the extension downloads its voice model from Hugging Face (huggingface.co). Speech is then made on your computer and no guide content is sent. OpenAI narration (optional, off by default). Only if you choose OpenAI and enter your own API key, the titles and notes of the steps being narrated are sent to OpenAI when you create a narrated video. Screenshots and clips are never sent. Your key is stored in the extension’s database on this computer.
The Binder does not sell data, use it for advertising, or use it for anything other than the features above.
